How to get to Venice
By plane
Venice Airport
Venice is served by the Marco Polo International Airport located at about 13 km from the city (Piazzale Roma car terminal). All road transports terminate at “Piazzale Roma” car terminal. The Venice Marco Polo Airport is connected to Piazzale Roma by public transports:
ACTV bus n° 5 (orange bus) to Piazzale Roma city terminal leaves from the platforms outside the arrival hall. The drive takes approx. 25 minutes. The cost of the ticket is €1,50 and the departure is about every 30 minutes.
ATVO bus (blue bus) to Piazzale Roma city terminal leaves from the platforms outside the arrival hall. The drive takes approx. 20 minutes. The cost of the ticket is € 3,00. and the departure is about every 30 minutes.
At Marco Polo airport are also available taxi-cars and taxi-boats; taxi-car fare to Piazzale Roma is about €30,00; taxi-boat fare is about €100,00.
From airport to Venice city centre:
Alilaguna waterbus to Venice city centre (St. Mark’s Square) in 1h20’ via the Venezia-Lido island. The boats leave from the pier every hour. Tickets can be bought in the arrival hall of the airport or directly on board and cost approximately €12,00. Treviso Airport
Some European low cost airlines operate flights to Venice-Treviso Airport. The small Treviso Canova Airport is located at about 30 km from Venice Piazzale Roma car terminal, to which it is connected by the ATVO Eurobus, leaving from the platform just outside the air terminal. Bus schedule coincides with Ryanair, Transavia, Sky Europe arrivals and departures. The drive to Piazzale Roma takes approx. 1h.10’. Cost of the ticket is €5,00.
By train
Venezia Santa Lucia Rail Station is linked to the major Italian and European cities. Some trains do not reach the Santa Lucia station, stopping instead at the Venezia-Mestre Station located on the mainland. From Venezia-Mestre you will find frequent trains (every 5-10 minutes) to Venezia Santa Lucia. The run takes 10 minutes. European Train Information is available at www.raileurope.com. By car
Cars and bus terminal is Piazzale Roma. Arriving at Piazzale Roma you have to leave your car in one of the car parks operating there, the largest ones being:

Getting around in Venice
The Water Transport Lines (vaporetti) make easy getting around Venice. There is also a Tourist Card valid for 1, 3 or 7 days which offer unlimited use of public transportation, free access to the 10 Municipal Museum as well as discounts for parking, cultural sites, events, restaurants and shops (www.venicecard.com)
Considering the high prices of public transportation in Venice (from 3.50 to 5 Euros) the Venice Card represents the best way to go around Venice in relax and with very good prices. However other special travel cards are available allowing unlimited use of all water bus lines. Travel passes for 1 or 3 or 8 days (www.actv.it)
More general information
Climate
Average temperature in late fall in Venice is about 11° (52°F). At night the minimum is about 3°/6° (37°/43°F) and in the day the temperature can rise up to 16°/19°(61°/66°F).
Acqua alta can occur in late fall. In case rubber boots are suitable for an unforgettable walk in the flooded town. Otherwise just wait (in case of normal acqua alta 2 hours can be enough)for the water to drain away from the walks.

Safety
Venice is a quiet town. No security problem is likely to occur during your stay. Just pay attention to pickpockets while travelling on crowded boats.
